Aim High is a highly structured, individualized after-school and summer program
serving teens and young adults (up to age 21) who have autism and related developmental
differences. The program aims to help our students build important life skills in
the areas of self-management, communication, social relationships and vocational
Each day is designed to provide opportunities for the students to learn and practice
self-care, problem-solving, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness.
Students engage in a variety of individual and cooperative activities to improve
both independent functioning and ability to be a part of a team.
These include leisure activities such as music, art, games, physical fitness, activities
of daily living including grooming and hygiene, and vocational activities such as
garden work, snack preparation, light cleaning,document shredding and recycling.
When appropriate, Aim High also teams up with schools during the summer to implement
teacher-inspired programming aimed at maintaining students’ academic, vocational,
communication, behavioral and adaptive skill levels as described in their Individualized
